Abstract
In the prodn. of a nonpyrophoric Pd catalyst with regulated granule size and activity, active charcoal (I) with homogeneous pore distribution is suspended in a dil. soln. of a Pd salt (complex) (II), opt. in the presence of an aliphatic alcohol (III), the soln. is stirred and (I) is filtered. The adsorbed (II) is opt. treated with an alkaline soln. (IV) and the mixt. is stirred until (II) accumulates, then the prod. is opt. reduced. These stages are repeated as ofter as required and the catalyst is dried if necessary after washing. Catalyst is useful in (de)hydrogenation reactions. Catalysts with various properties can be produced easily in controlled manner, with good reproducibility, which can be stored and handled dry.
