Abstract
A device for providing protection for electrical installations against earth fault currents comprises a differential transformer (T) on the magnetic core (To) of which are wound four primary coils (E1-E4) connected to three phase conductors (1-3) and a neutral conductor (N), and a secondary coil (E3) connected to a biased relay (R) which controls a switch (DI) in the conductor circuit. A diode (D) is connected in parallel with the relay (R) in the same polarity and has a conduction threshold greater than that of the relay, for example 700mV compared with 100mV. The diode short circuits any Rf parasitic signals while not affecting the relay normal operation, and thus prevents inadvertent operation of the relay (R) by parasitic signals.
