Abstract

The drum of a washing machine, driven by an alternating current electric motor is stopped in a selected position allows the access door of the drum to be always presented in the region of the opening of the machine for discharging the clothes, avoiding the need for manual rotation and the risk of injury of the operator's fingers. The method consists of cutting the normal feed of alternating current of the stator windings of the motor during the stopping and at the moment when the drum is in a predetermined position, disconnecting from these windings the devices creating a phase displacement of the current feeding the motor in normal operation and feeding a part of the stator windings with rectified current.
