Abstract

The multi-purpose sheath knife inc. a knife edge and a saw toothed edge. Of the conventional bladed profile with a bar type hand guard and handle, the knife is split into two parts with the division on the major central plane. The two parts (1, 2) pivot relative to one another about an axis which is sited adjacent to the blade tip. A stud (8) on one blade enters a counter blade notch (7) to ensure superposition at closure. One blade (1) is double edged and uniformly wide with a notch (6) by the tip, the counter blade increasing in width to provide a knife edge (4') and a saw toothed edge (5). Shearing is effected by locating a cable in the notch and pivoting the blades toward closure, this latter position is maintained by a sprung ball catch (12).
