Abstract

The seat for a young child, is secured to the rear seat of a vehicle and has a shell which is U shaped in section, and a back shell similarly shaped in cross section. A foot rest is also attached to the seat shell. The back is secured to the seat by a hinge each side so that it may be swung down from a seat position to form a bed, the back then being nearly horizontal. The side (2c) of the back shell is also connected to the side (1c) of the seat shell by a plate (4) at the joint region, to which a locking arm (21) can be attached so as to secure the back in one of the two alternative positions. This arm is attached to one end of a strap (19) which is anchored at the other end to the vehicle structure so as to secure the seat to the vehicle.
