Abstract

The elastic spindle for car door hinges is formed by a high tensile steel split tube that has locking tongues and recesses at either end so that the spindle is restrained from coming out of the hinge with repeated turning. The spindle (9) is placed between the fixed (1) and moving (2) parts of the hinge. The central portion of the spindle (8) is smooth so that (2) can rotate, but projections (13) hold the spindle at the top and bottom to the plate (1). Each convex projection (13) is chamfered for ease of insertion into the hinge and has a recess of complimentary shape (12).
