Abstract

The letter box has a signal indicating when post is contained in it. The letter box has a slot closed by a pivoting flap (2) which controls the signal and is automatically re-set when the box door (4) is opened and the letters removed. The signal indicator consists of a unit consisting of a magnet (9) and iron (11), one pivoting on the flap, and the other mounted on another part of the box. The first (11) indicator part pivots with the flap in the two rotational directions. The second indicator part (9) is pivot mounted on the other part (4) of the box (1) on a horizontal axis (10). A cover (13) is joined to the second part (9) and blocks or uncovers a window (12) in the door (4).
