Abstract

The vibration damper and shock absorber has an outer shell (2) attached to a member (4) carrying the load and an inner shell (5) attached to a load supporting surface (7). The outer shell may have a flared base (2a) and the inner shell may have a conical top (5a), the two sloping surfaces having a resilient ring (1) between them. The space (9) above this ring is partially filled with a liquid, and is also divided by a second resilient ring (11) with a rigid block (12) inside, having an opening (14) through it, tapering both ends. The narrow central part (13) acts as a throttle opening and the whole acts as a spring.
