Abstract

The instrument is for measuring various dimensions of the human body including degrees of curvature of the spine. It comprises a main graduated telescopic ruler and a secondary telescopic member mounted on a curser so that it slides along the ruler at right angles to it. Two spirit levels are mounted on one end of the ruler so that it can be aligned vertically and horizontally. The extension of the secondary ruler from the main ruler to the part of the body under consideration can then be taken to be the distance of e.g. a section of the spine from the normal position.
