Abstract

The ram-actuated plunger valve is used for automatic filling of bottles, utilising detected nozzle (8) placement and liquid levels to govern the flow of fluid. A first probe detects the placement of the nozzle on the neck of a bottle and authorizes the liquid feed, and a second probe detects max. liquid level in the bottle to curtail the feed. The unit has a tubular body (2) of which the barrel step reduces (22) towards the nozzle, contg. -a piston rod (5) with a slot apertured (7) plug (6) and a screw (43) adjustable return sprung (19) piston (17) attached to the opposite ends. Compressed air fed (15) to a ram chamber (14) causes the valve to open, the reduced leading barrel length (22) locating a slide.
