Abstract

The material comprises a layer of highly plasticised polyvinyl chloride with 15-45% by weight of PVC and 55-85% by weight of plasticiser, a fibrous backing layer and an intermediate layer of a polymer material. The intermediate layer at least reduces the migration of plasticiser out of the highly plasticised PVC layer into or through the backing layer. The highly plasticised PVC layer has advantageous skid-preventing and slide-preventing properties and dust and bacteria adhere to its free surface made sticky by migration of the plasticiser. The multi-layer material can be firmly stuck to the walls, floor and/or ceiling of rooms, using an adhesive on the backing layer, in order to keep these rooms free of dust and/or bacteria. Due to the backing layer, the material is dimensionally stable and can therefore also be used as floor covering without the use of adhesive. Dust particles and bacteria can be removed from the sticky, exposed surface of the PVC layer simply by washing, after which the surface becomes sticky again owing to further migration of plasticiser.
