Abstract

The installation comprises a pressure vessel in which liq. is kept at constant level by a controlled spray inlet above that level. Pressurised gas is piped to a submerged diffuser and a discharge pipe delivers satd. liq. The diffuser is now designed to deliver gas in the form of a multitude of tiny bubbles which rise through the liq. The diffuser is pref. a synthetic, porous stone or stones made by calcining granules. The gas is piped to the centre of the stone and can only escape via the pores. For a given vessel pressure, the new diffuser provides a higher degree of saturation. A better contacting with gas produces a better mixt. which in turn results in higher quality drinks.
