Abstract

Panel for a solar energy collector consists of a sheet of stainless steel hollowed out to form depressions forming housings for the straight parts of a coil in which circulates heat transfer fluid. The parts are held by corresp. shells. The face of the sheet which carries the coil and the shells is covered with layer of mat black paint, while the opposite face has a bright polished aspect. The straight parts of the coil are connected to one another by loops which extend beyond the edges of the stainless steel sheet. Arrangement dispenses with the internal-reflecting mirror used in prior devices, while improving the thermal efficiency.
