Abstract

The caliper (14) has a lug (21) with a hole (22) which allows it to slide on the shaft (20) fixed to the support plate (10). This shaft resists the tangential forces which arise when the brake is applied. Any tendency of the caliper to swing about the axis of the shaft is resisted by a hairpin spring (24). The latter has one arm (25) fitting in a hole in the caliper body and the other arm pressing on a flat (27) cut into the shaft.
