Abstract

A pump delivers liquid butane from a reservoir through an expansion valve and two heat exchangers to a pressure regulator and then to the carburetor. The first heat exchanger is heated by the engine cooling water and the second exchanger is heated electrically from the vehicle electrical system. The flow of water to the first exchanger and of current to the second are controlled by thermostats. At low temperature the butane is vaporised in the electrically heated exchanger. When an adequate engine temperature is reached the vaporisation is taken over by the water heated exchanger.
