Abstract

The socket for screwed light bulbs automatically breaks the supply circuit as the bulb is withdrawn. Contact with the bulb is made by two sprung electrodes (13, 14) held within an insert (2) in the two part shell (15) of the socket. These are themselves made 'live' by depressing an annulus (2) above the insert against two helical springs (12) parallel to the socket axis. Wiring is brought into the socket to 'L' shaped connection lugs (6) located in slots in a base insert. The two part outer shell is screwed together and is shaped internally to trap the three inner annuli.
