Abstract

The magnetic tape cassette has a cover which is displaced automatically between closed and open positions when inserted into a cassette recorder or player. The cover is automatically closed on removal. The cassette (1) has a shutter (7) which slides in guides when protruding rib (10) catches a fixed stop (12) in the cassette housing (11) of recorder or player. As the cassette is pressed into position the stop ensures that the shutter opens fully. On withdrawal of cassette a flexible stop (13) which allows entry catches the shutter rib to close the cassette.
