Abstract

The temporary road traffic sign has a rigid frame (1) incorporating the sign plate (2), a rear mounted pivotable and retractable stay (5), and two rollers (6a, 6b) which are mounted on the bottom edge. The stay serves to hold the sign in a free-standing inclined position, and the rollers rotate in the major plane of the sign. Frame members may be of galvanised steel channel sections housing the slidably introduced plate in aluminum sheet. The stay may be 'U' shaped pivoting about a horizontal axis through the leg ends extending beyond the foot of the frame to be used as a handle, but leaving the rollers clear when fully retracted.
