Abstract

The double glazing or insulating conversion system utilises two frames (1, 2) which are mounted on the opposite major sash (V) faces and about the existing framed opening. The members (6-12) of the frames are rebated to house the edges of the opening, the external unit (2) having integral liner boards (3) which penetrate and box out the opening. The liner boards are perpendicular to the major window plane, and end-housed into the external frame members (7, 9, 12), and engage the rebate of the inner frame to provide channel locating the glazing (M, 4, 5) or an insulating panel. The inner frame may be demountable to facilitate access to the glazing.
