Abstract

A flexible multilayer material, self-sealing in the cold, comprises (a) a flexible support sheets, (b) a layer of material self-sealing in the cold, on one face of the support, and (c) a layer of antiadherent varnish on the other face of the sheet. Pref. the support sheet is cellulosic, e.g. paper or regenerated cellulose. It may include, between >=1 of the said layers and the corresp. face, an intermediate layer of impermeable material, e.g. a coating of cellulose nitrate, a PVC/PVDC copolymer, or a copolymer of vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride. The support sheet may be printed on the face that is to be varnished, in which case the varnish is transparent. Pref. the varnish is based on polyamide resins contg. additives that improve slippage (against the parts of the machines used in conditioning); suitable additives are fatty amides and waxes. Pref. the self-sealing material is based on natural rubber latex, has 2-5g./m2 of self-adhesive material, and includes 40-90% latex w.r.t. dry material. The weight of anti-adherent varnish is also 2-5g./m2. The material is useful for conditioning food prods. that are sensitive to high temps., e.g. chocolate and prods. covered with chocolate.
