Abstract

The device has a sensor (12) in the form of a thermistor arranged in a glass inspection tube (10), which is subjected to droplets of the lubricant running to the pump (1 - 7). The thermistor, the resistance of which changes due to the cooling which occurs each time a droplet falls on it, is connected to an electric circuit which records the number of droplets per unit time and, if a predetermined number of droplets is not reached, actuates an alarm signalling device. A further thermistor (13) can be provided and, for the purpose of monitoring the oil level in the glass inspection tube, connected to an electric circuit. The device, which is used to monitor the cylinder lubricating pump of an ultra-high pressure compressor, e.g. a compressor for compressing ethylene to more than 2000 bar, is compact and virtually trouble-free.
