Abstract

The sonar system for surveillance along predetermined tracks searches for submerged objects at or near to bottom of sea. This is performed by reduced number of transducers and associated electronic circuits. Receiving transducers are arranged in lines which may be curved and with spacing which is greater than one wavelength. The transducer outputs are phase shifted elements having several outputs. Summers add phase shift signals from same output or each element to provide channel outputs. These signals are passed via circuits to observation system in sync. with a controller transmitting when transducers emit waves.
