Abstract

Fuel oil additive for reducing corrosion and pollutant emission comprises a soln. of a metal soap in an aliphatic and/or aromatic solvent. The additive is pref. a soln. of Mg oleate in white spirit, gasoline or fuel oil. The soln. pref. contains 10-40 (esp. 20-30) wt. % Mg oleate. The additive is pref. used in an amt. of 0.2-1 wt. %. The additive can be added to domestic heating oil or heavy fuel oils; it reduces SO2 and SO3 emission.
