Abstract

A U shaped bracket (24) has one arm (15) pivoted on a pin (12) which is eccentric to the axis of rotation (O). Its centre slips under a collar (18) and holds it in the disengaged position. A second bracket (14) is also pivoted to the pin and slides beneath the first bracket. A locking lever (34) loaded by a spring (26) holds the opposite ends (48, 46) of the two brackets apart in the stationary condition. In flight, centrifugal force moves the brackets apart and allows the spring to move the lever out. The spring can then bring the brackets together when the projectile stops spinning.
