Abstract

The machine is for cutting and chopping maize and has a drum driven about a vertical axis with peripheral teeth to guide the plants. The drum feeds the cut plants to a chopping device. A shaped, horizontal roller is driven at one end while the other end extends close to the drum from which it is separated by a wall. A guide device for the plant stalks extends tangentially to the drum. This guide device extends between the two ends of the roller (12). The gap (28) between the wall (15) which separates the top roller (12) from the drum (3) and the free end of the roller (12) is covered by the guide device (26, 34).
