Abstract

A cementitious settable compsn. comprises by vol. 1-4 pts. (a) polyethylene strips, 2-8 pts. (b) aggregate, 1-2 pts. (c) hydraulic cement and 1-4 pts. (d) water. Pref. sand, cement stack dust, fly ash, perlite and vermiculite as (b) and portland or lime-contg. portland cement as (c) are used. The compsn. is suitable for moulding relatively light-wt. strong, insulative structural units. It contains a significant proportion of industrial waste material, so that it is relatively inexpensive. The strips (a) impart greater grip and permanence to fastening devices, e.g. screws and nails, and higher water impermeability. By varying the proportions, the prod. shows high versatility.
