Abstract

The plant produces concrete or mortars etc. and utilises detection of the physical characteristics of the product to control the water content. The cement-sand mix flows down a vibrating chute (30), where the depth of the material in the chute is measured and used to determine the amount of water to be added. The sand and cement feeds utilise weight-batching and conveyors to provide a uniform supply, and the detector utilises established relationships between workability, water content, and the depth of the material when flowing at a given rate. The detector may take the form of a flap (33) pivoting about an overhead transverse axis.
