Abstract

The socket-pipe seal is in two parts, one part being a sealing ring (4) with a specially formed bead (6), between which and the pipe (2) the other part, namely an approximately L-shaped ring (5), is arranged. In the installed condition, the bead (6) presses the ring (5) against the pipe (2). The arrangement is such that the ring (5), which is particularly resistant to chemical attack, separates the sealing ring (4) completely from the aggressive medium. The bead (6) furthermore prevents the seal from being displaced during installation since it is arranged in a complementary groove in the socket. This socket-pipe seal has a sustained and effective resistance to chemically aggressive media without impairment of its sealing effect. It is therefore particularly suitable for use in conjunction with the transportation of such media.
