Abstract

The carburettor has a float chamber with a main jet (12) leading to the fuel inlet nozzle in the venturi throat of the air intake. An enriching jet (20) increases the fuel to the main nozzle when a valve (17) is opened. The valve (17) is opened by a plunger (21) which is depressed by a membrane (24) against a spring (29). The membrane responds to suction pressure so that the valve opens when the throttle is opned to accelerate the engine. A chamber (30) between the end of the plunger (21) and the valve operating pin (17a) contains fuel and communicates with the float chamber. Fuel has to flow through the communicating hole (32) for the valve to open or close and this introduces a time delay into the operation.
