Abstract

The method of making a multi-layer protective envelope of e.g. paper includes the first stage of folding over two continuous webs of the material as they are unwound from reels. This forms two continuous sleeves (5, 6) one inside the other, and the overlapping edges of each are adhesive coated. The double envelope so formed can then be cut into lengths and one end folded over and sealed by applying adhesive to the fold. A layer of reinforcing material (30) can then be inserted top and bottom between the inner and outer parts of the double sleeve. If two corrugated sheets are used, the corrugations of one (30) should be at right angles to the corrugations of the other, for increased strength.
