Abstract

The X-ray generator is for transaxial tomography with the aid of a computer. A bundle of charged particles is excited and moved so that the bundle is focussed in succession on different sections of the surface of an impact device, placed around the article to be examined. The device is of material emitting X-rays when struck by the charged particles, so that bombardment by them causes the surface sections to radiate. The X-rays from these sections, directed inwards, are collected into a thin flat zone, so that those from each radiate in a unrestricted fan shape within this zone.
