Abstract

The first shutdown system consists of a number of solid neutron absorbing bodies which are introduced into the fusion zone of the reactor, and the second system consists of a neutron absorbing liq. which is miscible with the cooling medium. Both systems are put into operation simultaneously and as soon as the solid neutron absorbing bodies have reached their final position in the system, the neutron absorbing liq. is brought into action again. The liq. is stroed in a vessel which is connected to the cooling circuit via a valved conduit. The valve is only opened when the system is activated and a limit switch for the final positioning of the solid neutron absorbing bodies is not operated.
