Abstract

An uninflammable composite textile prod. contains a thread spun from glass which is combined with at least one thread forming tight intermeshings or knots, so that the glass thread or filaments are enclosed in a sheath imparting important physical and mechanical properties. The threads forming the sheath are uninflammable and are pref based on PVC. Compsn. makes it possible to knit glass fibre fabrics of good quality, which is impractical with filaments wrapped in a helicoidal sheath or with filaments glued together, the fabrics from which tend to fray. The fabric may be used for clothing, seat covers in public places, wall coverings, etc.
