Abstract

Organometallic complex corresp. to the formula (I) is new (where R1 is alkyl, alkoxy or aryl; R2 is H or alkyl, M is a metal of valency n. (I) exist as liquid crystals and are used as such partic. for illuminated display purposes. (I) may be used as a single complex or as a mixt. of complexes. Pref. M is Ni, Cu, Pt, Co or V. R1 and R2 each contain 1-9C. (I) is prepd. by reacting an alpha-halogenated ketone of formula R1-C6H4-CO-CHX-R2, where X is halogen with an excess of phosphorus pentasulphide followed by an excess of a salt of M, esp. the chloride.
