Abstract

A wall covering is produced by advancing a paper web from a roll through an applicator station where one surface is coated with adhesive, and then advancing the paper web towards a pair of presser rolls of which one is heated. Immediately upstream of the presser rolls, a layer of weft yarns are superimposed on a layer of form yarns to form a net, and this net is advanced with the paper web between the presser rolls so that it adheres to the surface of the paper web. The net of yarns is maintained in a uniform configuration whilst it is applied to the surface of the paper web.
