Abstract

The breathing mask covers the nose and mouth and is made from a semi-rigid preformed shell (1) of fibrous material which acts as a filter. This is sealed by means of s trip (3) of soft plastic foam around the edges. To hold the mask in place, a suitable length of malleable wire (8) is fixed (6) to opposite sides of the mask. This wire can be made from soft brass and is coated with a plastics layer. The free end of each wire is bent round to hook over the wearer's ears.
