Abstract

The protection circuit, for protecting against effects caused by earth faults, consists of a transformer with a secondary winding (the primary is the line being monitored) and a release coil. The secondary and release coil form a release circuit. The release circuit contains a capacitor in series on in parallel with the secondary and release coil (which themselves may be in series or in parallel). A saturatable inductor is in series with both the release coil and the secondary or with just the release coil.
