Abstract

A carrier is for the brushes of electrical machines and is esp. for motor vehicle starter motors where radial brushes are employed. The carrier allows easy removal and assembly of the various components. The carrier plan form is approximately semi-circular and consists of a base with three fixing holes(16, 17) and two short locating pegs on either side of the centre hole which allow a certain amount of play. The brushes are held within a separate part(2, 3) which is trapped in position by a flexible clawed arm(14) extending vertically from the base such that the carriers can be removed by pressing them inwards.
