Abstract

Existing systems for (a) driving a variable speed, variable width twin chain conveyor, (b) driving moving carrier drums at variable speeds of rotation and (c) varying the spread and intensity of light from a UV lamp, are combined to produce a drying machine offering a high degree of variation and control of exposure of items carried on rotating supports to UV irradiation. Used esp. for controlling the degree of cure of unsatd. polyester-based inks as used for silk screen printing, to ensure thorough hardening without embrittlement. Suitable for treating a wider variety of patterns of support or inks than less complex combinations of prior art equipment.
