Abstract

A parking meter permits verification that a parked vehicle is obeying the parking rules for payment. The meter is portable for carriage in a vehicle and is sealed for opening only by parking place concessionaires. An individual parking meter has a tamper-proof casing and is sealed. The time of parking is displayed by a dial on which hours, minutes and second hands display up to twelve hours. The clock is started by operation of a stop start mechanism protected against inadvertent operation. After twelve hours a cam operated brake operate and can only be set into its operational state by a concessionaire.
