Abstract

The irradiation apparatus is for transverse tomography to artificially reproduce a section of a particular organ. It comprises monoenergitic rotary irradiation devices (1) giving one or more mono-energetic lines, the radiation determining a sectioning plane (AA) of the organ observed. Topographical detection devices (2) for the radiation have a focal axis (BB) perpendicular to this plane and passing through the rotation center of the irradiation devices. There can be one or more mono-energetic radio-active sources on the periphery of a ring driven by a motor. The radiation from this source forms a bundle defining the sectioning plane of the organ observed as the ring is rotated.
