Abstract

The electrical mating system of the connector is entirely separate from that providing the mechanical coupling and no specialised tools are required to make or break the connector. The connector which when made forms a single block ensures the contact of a primary lead (6) by providing a flexible walled chamber (9) in which is trapped a ball (16) which is pressed onto the inserted conductor to provide a sprung contact between it and one or more separate wires (3) entering the connection from its side.
