Abstract

The mechanism for inserting the weft into a wire loom, when working with wire or plastic monofilaments, uses a gripper shuttle to draw the weft from its fixed supply bobbin on one side of the loom. A number of clamps are provided, with two or more in the system, which pivot independently of each other on a common axis, to handle two more wefts. These can slide parallel to the warp direction with their weft clamps in the transfer position. The design allows the use of a number of different weft types of differing characteristics.
