Abstract

The emergency-hatch may be deployed in public service vehicles or cars and comprises a rapidly demountable wall panel (6). The panel (6) is locked into a dormant-frame (1) by not less than two levers (10), and is released by a simple pivoting of the levers. When in the closure position the levers (10) act with the edge (6A) of the panel to grip an interposing flange (8) of the frame (1). Each locking handle (10) may comprise a radial arm which is key to an axle (12) and is shaped for manipulation by hand. The free end of the arm may have a bevelled return (11) which climbs a ramped (12) stop (B) to gain the closure position. The stop (12) is mounted on the flange (8) of the frame, and the axle (12) traverses the thickness of the panel (6) to accommodate a hand-lever (10A) on the opposite face.
