Abstract

The thrust deflecting spoiler system is used in rocket propelled projectiles. The deflector is arranged on the thrust het outlet rim and deflector plate can be pushed into flow stream. The deflector is used to augment the transverse force acting on the projectile. The rocket outlet nozzle has on one side a wall (3) which is moved into the jet path at right angles. A curved deflector (5) is arranged diametrically opposite this wall. This deflector is arranged with an angle which is greater than half the rocket jet cone angle alpha. An opening (7) is situated on the outside wall of nozzle. This opening diverts the outside air stream onto the inner wall of the curved deflector so that the jet does not adhere to deflector wall.
