Abstract

An opening arrangement and spout for a container, esp. a throwaway container for milk, fruit drinks etc., passes through the sealing rib which extends around the container and can be opened by tearing along a predetermined line. The pouring spout comprises a tube, which is flexible and initially flattened; this spout passes through the sealing rib, the outer face of the spout (or tube) being sealed to the inner faces of the constituent layers which form the rib. The closed, sealed end of the spout may be either outside the container or inside. With either arrangement, a tear-off line is provided, enabling the end of the spout to be torn off so that it can be used for pouring. The spout is easily opened, and does not require any skill if spilling of the contents is to be avoided. It is partic. useful for box-shaped containers.
