Abstract

Flotation of ores in the form of salts and oxides is effected using a collector contg. a major proportion of a conventional collector of the fatty acid type, and a minor proportion of a mono-ester derived from orthophthalic or maleic acid and >=1 8-14C alkanol or an average 8-14C alkanol mixt. Process is used for the efficient flotation of phosphate ores, ilmenite, and minerals contg. Mg. The addn. of the mono-ester to the fatty acid collector allows a considerable redn. in the amt. of collector needed for the flotation of phosphate ores and ilmenite, and gives a much better flotation of MgF2 present in association with CaF2.
