Abstract

An automatic gyroscope balancing device comprises a ball (19) which may move along a radial path defined by a housing (15) carrying a diametral slot (18). The ball rolls on the shallow riverted conical surface (K) of the gyroscope frame (11a). A gear train (9) transfers rotary drive from the gyroscope fly wheel (1) to an internal pinion (12) integrally attached to the housing (15). The housing (15) is movably connected to the frame (11a) by a circular ball race (13). Centrifugal forces acting on the ball (19) cause it to move outwards to compensate for gyroscopic imbalance.
