Abstract

The clamp is used for handling concrete kerbing and similar prefabrications. It is attached to a crane, the kerbing being gripped between shaped jaws (S, S') fitted to the arms. These jaws are interchangeable and are individually levelled (G, G') to suit the profile. Each arm (A, B) is curved and pivots about a rigid bar (p) which also forms a guide for a slidable weight (M). This weight is positioned to counteract an imbalance in the load. The arms are operated by a coarse pitch screw rod (V) attached to the upper end of each rod on each side of the shackle.
