Abstract

The drilling head is used in dentistry and comprises a cylindrical body containing the flexible drive shaft. This is fixed into the grip end of the head and is guided by an enclosing sleeve running in ball races inside the body. The tool is held in a collet rotated by the drive shaft. It is opened and closed by longitudinal movement of shaft and sleeve in a conical housing, operated by a threaded portion. This is controlled by the user at the grip end. Control wheels are rotated through openings, normally covered by a sleeve.
